About this course
UNDERSTAND NEW MEDIA AND INTERACTIVE TECHNOLOGIES
#edtech #learning #digitalliteracies #schools
This course supports our teachers, students and parents in extending their digital literacies by offering evidence, insight and analysis of broad categories, and specific examples of, digital technologies. The overall aim is to allow our learners to develop a greater degree of ‘digitally-readiness’ - able to generalise from one specific application or product to a class of applications and to move fluently from one technology, application or service to another.
For teachers, we would like to help them to be able to compare, contrast, and analyze technologies, and understand how those differences might impact their pedagogy and professional practice.
For students, we aim equip them to understand, for example, some of the issues around their digital footprint, privacy, and the ways that they can make the most of emerging applications and technologies to discover the world, maintain relationships and learn.
For parents, we aim to help them make sense of the rapidly-shifting technological environment in which they and their children live and offer evidence and insight that counters the often damaging effects of ‘cybersecurity’ rhetoric.
